6 Mouthwatering Restaurants in Medellín Colombia
Having worked and travelled in Colombia, I had the chance to indulge in Medellín’s vibrant food scene during an extended stay. While the country’s culinary reputation is often very much misunderstood, Medellín is home to an array of delicious and exceptional dining experiences that challenge this!
From lively, bustling eateries serving modern takes on Colombian cuisine to innovative plant-based restaurants and a Michelin-starred establishment led by a renowned Spanish chef, these are my top 6 must-visit spots that showcase the city’s diverse and evolving gastronomic landscape.
1. Batea Canalla:
Michelin Mediterranean Fusion Dining in Medellín
This place is absolutely excellent: the drinks, food, music and above all, the warm hospitality from the team. The menu isn’t extensive, but every dish is executed to perfection. Canalla crafts an exquisite variety of dishes that showcase both Mediterranean and tropical Colombian flavours.
Canalla is a creative Mediterranean-tropical fusion restaurant in Medellín, celebrating Colombian-grown ingredients. They follow a farm-to-table (terrace-to-table) concept and also strive for sustainability in their sourcing practices and fishing methods. Their conscious and thoughtful ethos ensures they use only the freshest, top-quality ingredients.
Founded by a Spanish chef with a background in Michelin-starred restaurants, Canalla blends culinary expertise with high-quality, fresh ingredients - many of which are grown in-house. They even source eggs from their own chickens!
In the evening, Canalla transforms into a lively hotspot, capturing the energy of Medellín’s nightlife. The restaurant frequently hosts live music, offering a truly special dining experience - where innovative food meets an electric atmosphere.
